About Dr. Tamar Blau
I am a licensed health care provider in Washington State. I received my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University.
Before attending medical school, I spent several years as a health care community activist, spending time with Washington citizens who had insufficient access to decent medical care, and listening to their stories.
As a Seattle area transplant from the East Coast, I’d never heard of Bastyr University before, in fact I hadn’t known there was such a thing as Naturopathic medicine. But on one August afternoon I found myself at the Bastyr University Herb Fair, and knew without a doubt that Naturopathy was my path.
My Approach as a Doctor
As a naturopathic doctor, my goal is to provide the best health care possible for each individual patient. My education has given me many tools to employ, including the use of herbal medicines, diet modification, pharmaceuticals, and nutrients such as amino acids, minerals and vitamins.
Since the essence of this medicine is to treat each person as an individual, and to treat the root cause, no two patients will have the same experience. However every patient will be involved in their own healing; the word doctor comes from the word “docere”, which means “to teach”. Therefore, my job as a doctor is to educate each patient so that they can make an informed decision about their own health.
